Pre-Trial Release Outcomes

The Pre-Trial Detention Center is an MDCR county jail. It does not issue a separate release archive. A person can leave after posting cash or surety bond, receiving release on recognizance, entering Miami-Dade Pretrial Services, obtaining another court order, having a charge dismissed, or moving to a different custodian. Release from the jail does not mean the criminal case is over. The court docket remains the source for the judicial event.

A transfer is different from a return to the community. A person sent to the Florida Department of Corrections, another county, federal custody, or ICE has left MDCR while confinement continues. The release transaction should identify the type or authority and, when nonexempt, the destination. That detail prevents a roster disappearance from being misread as freedom from all custody.

Confirm Pre-Trial Release Records

The official Miami-Dade inmate search includes a released-within-72-hours option. Begin there for a recent event. Record the jail or booking number and each release field actually shown. The county does not promise a permanent display or instant update. When a result is missing, too new, or ambiguous, contact the MDCR Release Unit and use VINE as a second fast status check.

Use the following order to keep each record in context:

1. Open the MDCR search instructions and choose the released listing.
2. Compare the full name and booking identifiers rather than relying on a similar name.
3. Call Inmate Information at 786-263-7000 or the Release Unit at 786-263-5360 for a current clarification.
4. Search Florida VINE and read both the reporting agency and custody status.
5. Review the Miami-Dade Clerk criminal docket for bond, release, disposition, or transfer entries.
6. Request the archived booking and release transaction from MDCR Central Records when the web window has passed.

Pre-Trial Releases Exit TGK

Completed county releases do not physically exit from the Pre-Trial Detention Center. MDCR centralizes them at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. The public exit is in front of TGK near the “Inmate Release Area” signs. MDCR publishes a release window of 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., regardless of whether personal transportation is available.

This routing separates three facts: the last detention location, the agency custody transaction, and the physical exit. A person may be held at Pre-Trial, processed through MDCR, and released at TGK. Even after a bond or court requirement is met, MDCR warns that processing can take several hours. The window is helpful for pickup plans but cannot supply an exact time for one person.

Pre-Trial Court Record Trail

Pretrial custody is tied closely to the pending criminal case. The Clerk’s Criminal Justice Online Case Search can show docket entries for bond, release orders, dismissal, and later disposition. Match the case number whenever possible. The Clerk warns that the online display is not the official record, so obtain the relevant certified order or disposition when formal proof is needed.

An MDCR release record and a court record answer different questions. Corrections records show the actual custody transaction, including date, time, release type, and destination when recorded. The court record shows the judicial act. A release on recognizance means the court permits release without a financial bond under stated terms. Pretrial Services is community-based monitoring while the case remains open. Neither term means acquittal or completed sentence.

Bond

A financial condition tied to release while a case is pending.

Recognizance

A court-approved release based on a promise to appear.

Pretrial release

Community release, sometimes supervised, before final case disposition.

Transfer

A move to another custodian rather than release from all custody.

Pre-Trial Records and Contact

The Pre-Trial Detention Center is at 1321 NW 13th Street, Miami, Florida 33125. The facility telephone is 786-263-4110. Use that line for location-specific questions. Release interpretation belongs with the MDCR Release Unit, while copies of the custody transaction belong with Central Records.

The directory helps route a current question, but only the requested record preserves the specific booking and release details after the online listing expires.

Request Pre-Trial Release Records

MDCR Central Records is at 2525 NW 62nd Street, Suite 4200, Miami, Florida 33147. Its telephone is 786-263-5892 and fax is 786-263-5002. The online request portal tracks status. Identify the person by full name, date of birth, jail number if known, and booking date. Ask for the release date and time, disposition or authority, custody-history entry, and transfer destination or hold if nonexempt.

Published charges include 15 cents for a one-sided standard copy, 20 cents for a double-sided copy, and $1 for a certified page. Delivery can be added. Processing that exceeds 20 minutes may result in a labor charge, and advance partial payment may be required. Florida public-record law calls for a good-faith response, but MDCR gives no fixed turnaround for every request. Ask for an estimate.

Note: The online 72-hour display is not a retention rule, and older Pre-Trial records should be requested from their custodians.

Pre-Trial Property After Release

Property from the booking episode follows MDCR’s TGK process even though the person was housed at Pre-Trial. The county says booking property stays in the TGK Property Room for up to 30 days. After that it moves offsite, and pickup must be arranged through 786-263-5355.

Property returned from offsite but not collected within 72 hours goes back to storage. MDCR also says property unclaimed for 30 days after release is scheduled for destruction under County Implementing Order 7-20. These are property deadlines, not corrections-record retention periods. Confirm pickup instructions before traveling and keep the jail number available.

Pre-Trial Transfers to ICE

Miami-Dade’s daily jail report includes immigration holds and detainers. A detainer is a custody request from another authority. When the Pre-Trial transaction shows delivery to ICE, the MDCR episode ended but community release did not necessarily occur. This distinction is especially important when a court resolves the local custody issue while immigration custody remains.

Use the ICE Online Detainee Locator System with a nine-digit A-number and country of birth, or exact first and last name plus country of birth. ICE states that the locator includes people released from ICE custody in the prior 60 days. Read the result with ICE paperwork or immigration-court information to tell conditional release, transfer, and removal apart.

The court docket may show that the local detention basis changed, yet it does not certify the end of immigration custody. MDCR supplies the handoff record. ODLS supplies a later ICE status within its stated window. If the locator question remains unresolved, ICE’s information line is 1-888-351-4024 and is staffed Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern.

Keep the MDCR jail number and case number for the county episode, then use the A-number for ICE. Similar names can lead to a wrong match. The two agencies use separate person numbers because they maintain separate custody systems.

Note: A court-approved county release can coincide with an ICE transfer, so the destination field remains essential.
